WAIKIKI SWIM CLUB

WHO ARE WE? The Waikiki Swim Club has a long heritage of Adult Swimming. The first Waikiki Rough water swim was held in 1969, and the organizers of the race founded the Waikiki Swim club in 1971. The club has grown and expanded their charter over the years, but one thing has held true and steady—we encourage swimming!! Our main goal is to promote FUN SWIMMING. We hope you come join us! OCEAN SWIMMING! The WSC does not meet at pools to practice swimming, although many of our members take part in coached, masters workouts at a variety of pools throughout the island. Instead, WSC members meet to swim in the ocean. Weather permitting, the WSC meets Saturday (Ala Moana at 0900) and Sunday (Kaimana beach at 0800 in front of the New Otani Kaimana Hotel or some meet at Hilton hotel pier to swim over a shipwreck) to swim in the ocean. Conditions permitting, we also swim in Kailua around Flat Island or to the Moks and also in Hanauma Bay. During the summer, WSC gears up for the North Shore Series and meets for weekend, North Shore swims. We send out email notices to let everyone know where we meet. Many of our swimmers wear fins at our training swims, so all abilities are welcome. An average swim time is about 1 hr, but some prefer less, others more.

WE SPONSOR RACES. WSC also sponsors several well known races throughout the year, including the Haleiwa Surf and Sea Race, North Shore 2.4 Mile Challenge, Fin Swim, and Magic Island, Valentines and Christmas Biathlons.

SO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE FUN? Dues to join WSC are a mere $12 per family!! We sponsor many social events throughout the year that the dues support, such as the MEGA Christmas Party, the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt, and Socials like sunset boat cruises and after the Rabbit Island, Shipwreck, and Reverse Bay to Lani's Swims. PLUS WSC sponsors a Banquet each year to honor the great swimmers, volunteers, and race directors.
